E-Passport System
The E-Passport System offers Turkish citizens a fast, secure, and convenient way to pass through borders. Turkish citizens aged 18 and older who hold a biometric passport can complete their border crossing in seconds using facial recognition and fingerprint verification. At İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, there are four fast e-passport control counters—two located in the Arrivals floor and two in the Departures floor of the International Terminal—serving passengers with this system.
To start the process, travelers scan their passport. Once their fingerprint and facial biometric data match the passport information, the border crossing is completed in an average of 20 seconds.
Requirements to Use the E-Passport System:
- Be a Turkish Citizen
- Hold a biometric Turkish passport issued in Turkey
- Be aged 12 or older (parents traveling with children under 12 are not directed to use the system)
- For departures, possess a passport valid for at least 120 days
