TAV Gallery Izmir’s First Exhibition “Izmir From The Sky” Opens…

 

The TAV Gallery, opened in Izmir following Istanbul Ataturk and Ankara Esenboğa Airports, presented its first photograph exhibition “Izmir from the Sky” for passengers and visitors.

TAV Airports’ culture and arts platform, the TAV Gallery, is now open at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal following Istanbul Ataturk and Ankara Esenboğa Airports. Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport Civilian Administration Manager Mehmet Erdogan, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport Manager Erdal Çavuşoğlu, TAV Izmir General Manager F. Erkan Balcı and SunExpress Deputy General Manager Hacı Say participated in the TAV Gallery Izmir’s opening ceremony, which drew enthusiastic interest with its inaugural exhibition, “Izmir from the Sky.” At the ceremony the General Manager of TAV Izmir, F. Erkan Balcı, presented fine porcelain plates to the speakers.

In his speech at the opening Civilian Administration Manager Erdogan remarked, “Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport has integrated the Aegean region and become a center contributing to a growth in passengers in the region. Opening this special exhibition for art lovers at the TAV Gallery Izmir is another positive step in our continuing promotion of Izmir. Science and the arts play a vital role in the development of societies. For this reason, I am grateful to TAV Airports and TAV Izmir General Manager F. Erkan Balcı for presenting this exhibition, displaying photographs taken from the airman’s viewpoint, to the passengers of Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport.

TAV Izmir General Manager F. Erkan Balcı stated, “At TAV Airports, we founded the TAV Gallery so that passengers flying directly from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal to 88 destinations could enjoy not only the journey, but also experience the pleasure of enjoying fine art in a variety of media. It is our distinct pleasure to be able to offer this opportunity to a greater number of people as we open another TAV Gallery, which has hosted numerous exhibitions at Istanbul Ataturk Airport for the last two years, followed by Ankara Esenboğa Airport. The TAV Gallery Izmir, opening with the ’Izmir from the Sky’ exhibition, displaying a collection of aerial photographs of Izmir taken by SunExpress pilot, Captain Mustafa Sabrı Turkay, is demonstrating the importance accorded to culture and the arts by TAV Airports.”

In his speech during the opening ceremony SunExpress Deputy General Manager Hacı Say stated, “In 2011, SunExpress will celebrate the 5th year of its operations in Izmir. Within the last 5 years, we have conducted nearly 20,000 flights and transported more than 2.6 million passengers from and to the International Terminal in Izmir. We are grateful to the residents of Izmir for their interest in SunExpress. We are proud that the first exhibition of the TAV Gallery Izmir is displaying the photographs taken from the cockpit of our Izmir fleet pilot Captain Mustafa Sabrı Turkay.”

Opened in Izmir, TAV Gallery welcomed the passengers to the exhibition called "Izmir from the Sky” displaying a collection of aerial photographs of Izmir taken by. The exhibition featuring aerial photographs depicting Izmir from various perspectives were taken by SunExpress pilot, Captain Mustafa Sabrı Turkay in an effort to reveal Izmir’s undiscovered beauties to the visitors of the gallery. The “Izmir from the Sky” exhibition, which consists of 50 photos, will be on display at the TAV Gallery located on the Departures Floor of Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal for one month.
