TAV Airports has won the tender for the operating rights of the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal, CIP, Domestic Terminal and auxiliary operations in a lease held by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) by placing the highest bid of 610 million Euros+VAT. TAV Airports independently placed bids in 11 rounds during the tender which lasted for 9 and a half hours for the operating rights of the airport until the end of 2032. TAV Airports Chief Executive Officer M. Sani Şener stated; “Izmir has achieved significant growth economically and socially in recent years. As TAV Airports we are very glad to have won the tender for the operation of Adnan Menderes Airport, which I regard as the most important infrastructure project in Izmir. Izmir surely deserves such significant infrastructure. With the new terminal building which will be constructed, I believe that the increased capacity of the Domestic and International Terminals will make a major contribution to the region in respect of employment and economic development. We will also be transferring TAV service quality to the Domestic Terminal of Izmir Airport, a facility at the juncture of the Aegean Basin connecting Turkey with the overseas market. We plan to establish a dynamic synergy with our International Terminal Operations. We will spare no effort in strengthening the connection we have established between Izmir and various countries. As the operating company of Istanbul Atatürk and Ankara Esenboğa Airports, we are experienced in the serious effort required to operate both domestic and international terminals at the same time. In 2011, the synergy created in Istanbul resulted in a 27% growth in transfer passenger numbers. We aim to develop the airport operations in Izmir with our ever improving skillset.”

TAV Airports CEO Şener also stated; “By placing a bid of 610 million Euros + VAT for the tender, we are creating a major source of revenue for the Ministry of Transportation and State Airports Authority. TAV Airports will invest 250 million Euros in Adnan Menderes Airport. Our contribution to public industry is also a source of pride for us.”

As per the tender for the operating rights of the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal, CIP, Domestic Terminal and the auxiliaries by lease, TAV Airports will build the New Domestic Terminal with an investment of 250 million Euros.
